GROUP CHAIRMAN
Dato’ Zakaria Mohamad, P.Geol., FIGM.
Dato’ Zakaria Mohamad obtained his Bachelor Degree with Honors in Geology from the National University of Malaysia in 1980 and a Master Degree in Quaternary Geology from Free University of Brussel, Belgium in 1989. He is a registered Professional Geologist (PGeol) with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG) and registered Subject Consultant with Department of Environments Malaysia (DOE). He had been working with Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia (formerly known as Geological Survey Malaysia) from 1980 until his retirement in 2015.
He was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S.) which carried the title of Dato’ by the HRH Sultan of Selangor for his excellent service in the state of Selangor. He has involved with various geological field of study including mineral resource evaluation, engineering geology and geological mapping. He has carried out various mineral resource evaluation for gold, tin, rock aggregates and construction sand in Malaysia.
He is one of the expert panels in the Area Business Continuity and Recovery Programme (JICA-ASEAN-AHA). He is the Project Director for the first national project on Slope Hazards and Risk Mapping (PBRC) from 2014 to 2016. He was a member of various committees for Environmental Impact Assessment, Federal and State local authority planning committee, and expert review panel for more than 10,000 development proposal plans.
He is appointed as Board Member to the Board of Geologist Malaysia by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environments for 2017 to 2020. Later, He was appointed as Chairman, Board of Geologists Malaysia for 2020 to 2023. He is the President of Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) from 2019 to 2021 and the President for Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) from 2018 to 2020.
Currently, he also serves as Honorary Research Fellow at the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Initiative, the National University of Malaysia; Scientific Expert Panel for National Disaster Management Agency and Board of Study, Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Center, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology, University of Technology Malaysia. He joined GMT Group as Chairman in 2015.

Dr. Richard Mani Banda, P.Geol., FIGM.
Dr Richard Mani Banda has more than 33 years of international experience and expertise in the geological mapping and mineral exploration. He holds the professional qualification of the Doctor of Philosophy in Geoscience, University Tsukuba, Japan.
Currently, he serves as the Advisor of Pembinaan Jaya Mansang and Advisor of Skyjaya Agriculture Supplies. He commenced his career with Jabatan Mineral Dan Geosains (Sarawak) in 1982 where he holds several senior positions. He was the Deputy Director Geoscience (JMG Sarawak) from 2011-2014, Director of Corporate Affair (HQ) from 2014-2015.
His last position was as the Director JMG Sarawak in 2015. Now he is the chairman for GEOSCIENCE & MINERALS CONSULTANT AND TRAINING PLT and Group Vice Chairman for GMT Group

Abd Rasid Jaapar, P.Geol., FIGM., MIRSM.
Abd Rasid Jaapar obtained his Bachelor Degree in Geology from the National University of Malaysia in 1992 and a Master Degree in Applied Geoscience (Engineering Geology) from the University of Hong Kong in 2006 where he won Halcrow Prize as a mark of distinction and overall best student. He is a registered Professional Geologist (PGeol) with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG) and registered Subject Consultant with Department of Environments Malaysia (DOE).
His major specialization is in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering with occasionally involved in groundwater (hydrogeology) and geo-environmental engineering from onshore to offshore projects. He involved with most of big infrastructure projects in the country during the extensive privatisation of all projects by the government of Malaysia in 1990’s and early 2000. He also had considerable experiences in overseeing multi-million dollars projects for the offshore oil and gas industry. These all involved close liaison with clients as well as the management and organization of large teams of project personnel reporting directly to him. He has been working for offshore projects mainly related to oil and gas industry in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Central Asia and Europe.
He was the President of the Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM) between 2017 and 2021; Vice President of the Malaysian Site Investigators Association (MSIA) between 2002 and 2004. He is the Vice President of Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) from 2020 to 2022; and Chairman, Technical Committee on Environmental and Engineering Geology, Institute of Geology, Malaysia from 2019 to 2020.
He was appointed as board member to the first Board of Geologist Malaysia between 2014 and 2017 and again from 2020 to 2023. He is a Professional Member of Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). He is also a member of National Ground Water Association (NGWA) and International Association of Hydrogeology (IAH). He is appointed as Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Earth Science, University of Malaysia Kelantan since 2018 and Adjunct Lecturer, Department of Management & Humanities, University of Technology Petronas since 2017 where he teaches Professional Practice and Practical Management for Geoscientists. He is a Member of Curriculum Committee, Department of Geology, University of Malaya and a Member of New Academic Programme Board, Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, University of Malaysia Sabah.
Internationally, He is a Member of IAEG Commission 35 on Engineering Geological Model and IAEG Commission 38 on Rock Mass Characterisation with Emphasis on Rock Fall. He is also the current President of Sekolah Dato Abdul Razak Alumni (SDARA), one of premier boarding school in Malaysia. He joined GMT Group as Chief Executive Officer in 2015.

James Bachat, P.Geol., FIGM.
He obtained his Bachelor Degree with honors in Geology and a Master Degree in Geohazard Studies from the National University of Malaysia. He is a registered Professional Geologist (PGeol) with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG) and secretary of Institute Geology Malaysia Sarawak Chapter. He has been working in mainly engineering geology and geotechnical engineering field for more than 20 years.
Started as research assistant in National University of Malaysia, he has developed his career as engineering geologist in Geomapping Technology Sdn Bhd where he also involved in managerial level and subsequently mark his way to Principal Engineering Geologist/Director at Jurutera Perunding Geoteknik Sdn Bhd in Sarawak. Now he is the CEO of GEOSCIENCE & MINERALS CONSULTANT AND TRAINING PLT and Borneo Geoscience Sdn. Bhd. .
He has well versed experience in feasibility study for hydroelectric and water supply dam projects including exploration for construction materials suitability and potential quarry and borrow pit. Amongst others are Lawas, Kota 2, Limbang 2, Baram and Baleh Hydroelectric Dam Projects and, Sut Nikal and Samarahan/Serian Water Supply Dams. He has published numerous papers in local and international journals mainly in topics of engineering geology, geological hazards, and geotechnical engineering.
GROUP CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER (GEOTECHNICAL)
Dharam Singh
Dharam Singh received his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 1992. He is a geotechnical engineer with more than 30 years of experiences which includes installation of bored piles, slope reinstatement, soil investigations, laboratory testing and geotechnical instrumentation projects.
He was previously in charge in the project QAQC planning and implementation of Metramac Highway Project, LRT2 (Putra) – Kuala Lumpur Project, Malaysia – Singapore Second Link Project, North-South Central Link Highway Project and National Sports Complex, Bukit Jalil Project among other. He has involved with design and supervision of several landfills such as Bukit Nenas Integrated Hazardous Waste Management Centre, Ayer Hitam Sanitary Landfill, etc. He also involved with design and supervision of several other geotechnical engineering projects including slope stabilization and foundation works in soil and rock.
He is a member of Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics Malaysia and Institution of Engineers Malaysia. He joined GMT Group as Director in 2016.

Mohamad Faruq Syahmi Md Aripin, P.Geol., MIGM.
Mohamad Faruq Syahmi obtained his bachelor’s degree in Geology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2016. He received his master’s degree at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) majoring in Geotechnical Engineering. He currently chasing his doctorate degree in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
A proactive geologist with experience in multiple geological subjects especially engineering geology, rock mechanics, and mineral exploration. Meticulous observation and analysis are what he does during fieldwork, and to ensure that he keep the objectives on sight. His style in methodical modelling and mechanics approach provides better understanding for end-user in each of his project. He is also considered as a tech savvy and able to swiftly learn thus operates various software, such as ArcGIS, Rockworks, Rocscience softwares, AutoCAD, and other geotechnical softwares.
His strength on fundamental geology increases as he adopted advance technology application such as LiDAR, Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) and drone in both line of industry. He is registered as Graduate Geologist with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG). He is the Chairman of Young Geoprofessional Group of SEGRM under IAEG National Group. He is also a member of Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM), Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) and Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Malaysia which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM). Muhammad Faris Qushairi Hamat
Muhammad Faris Qusyairi Hamat obtained his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology MARA in 2018. He received several Dean’s Award for his excellent achievement during his undergraduate study. He is registered as Graduate Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He is a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).
He has involved with design, technical management and documentation of various Project including Menaik taraf Sistem Bekalan Air Felda Seluruh Malaysia. He is also capable to use several engineering software such as Esteem, Orion, Infravera, etc. He joined GMT Group as Geotechnical Engineer in 2019.

Mohamad Rashidi Md Razli
Mohamad Rashidi Md Razli obtained his Bachelor Degree in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia in 2014. He is a member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and a member of Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). His specialty is to classify LiDAR data for specific land use purposes such as urban mapping, mining, forestry, agriculture, flood modelling, landslide, etc.
He received Best Employee Award from his former employer for his dedication and excellent contribution. He has extensive experiences in LiDAR surveying works. Some of his project experiences included East Coast Rail Link Phase 3 Airborne LiDAR Survey including LiDAR editing and vector mapping; Terrestrial Laser Scanning for Mass Rapid Transit Phase 3 and Tun Razak Exchange retaining wall monitoring; and Aerial LiDAR inspection for vegetation clearance on trans grid transmission line in Australia.
He is also has experiences in coordinating logistic including managing import/export, transportation documentation, containers tracking, etc. He is excellent in several GIS and geomatics software including MS Office, eLAStic, PLS-CADD, Microstation, Global Mapper, Compass, QGIS and ArcGIS. He is also well verse with some logistic software including ITS, DBP Smart, DDS, DMS and Track-Trace. He joined GMT Group as Senior Geospatialist in 2021.

Shaidatul Munirah Musa
Shaidatul Munirah Musa obtained her Bachelor Degree in Geology from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2015. She is competent in geological modelling software such as Rockworks 17, ArcGIS 10 and Visual Mudflow Flex. She is also capable in SQL Financial Accounting System, a finance and administration software.
She is responsible for many aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations mainly on the administration, finance and procurement. She is working closely with the company appointed accountant. Essentially, she provides high level administrative, strategic planning and operational support, research and advice to senior management on administrative and financial matters such as staff management, financial planning, facilities management, provide information and support for the preparation of financial reports and budgets, and also manage all the staff to ensure efficient business operations.
She is also excellent in handle multi-tasking work scope, she can cope in any working environment very well. She is a member of Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM), Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM) and Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM). Indirectly, she manage the day-to-day operation of SEGRM and MyGeo. She joined GMT Group as Geologist in 2015.

Nur Izyan Izzati Azhari
Nur Izyan Izzati Azhari obtained his Diploma in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah in 2011. Good attitude and able to work independently. She is very experienced in administration roles based on his vast experiences in various positions in company day-to-day operation. She joined GMT Group as Corporate Executive in 2021.

Goh Thian Lai, PhD., P.Eng., P.Geol., MIEM., FIGM.
Ir. Ts. Dr. Goh Thian Lai is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Board of Engineers Malaysia, a registered Professional Geologist (P.Geol.) with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG) and a registered Technologist with Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). He obtained his PhD from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in engineering geology and rock mechanics.
His specialisation is in engineering geology, rock mechanics, rock engineering and applied geophysics for engineering, environmental and exploration. He serves as the Treasurer of the Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).
He is a member of various professional and learned organizations including the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), the Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM), the Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM), the Geological Society of America (GSA) and the Society for Exploration Geophysics (SEG). Dr. Khamarrul Azahari Razak, MIGRSM
He obtained his PhD in Utrecht University where his research involves heavily on Remote Sensing, Geoscience, Geomorphology and Landslide. He received numerous awards for his contribution on Geohazards Disaster Risk Management such as Top 11 Young World Geomorphologists (2013), ASEAN 2017 Advanced Institute on Knowledge-based Action for Disaster Risk Reduction by International Council for Science Regional Office for Asia Pacific, and Integrated Research Disaster Risk (IDR) Young Scientist Programme 2019.
He also contributed heavily at Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre (DPPC) Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Wan Zainuddin Wan Omar, PEngPC., MIEM.
He received his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom in 1988 and a Master Degree in Business Administration and Leadership from Northumbria University, United Kingdom in 2013.
He is a registered Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEngPC) registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He is also a member of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM) and Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM). He has involved with many critical infrastructure projects throughout his career especially on the maintenance aspects.

Wan Anuar Wan Ibrahim, PEngPC., MIEM., MCOM.
Ir Wan Anuar Wan Ibrahim received his Bachelor in Mining Engineering from the Camborne School of Mines, United Kingdom in 1982. He is a registered Professional Engineering with Practising Certificate (PEngPC) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He is also registered as Mine Manager under Section 77A, Mining Enactment 147.
He is a member of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM), Malaysia Chamber of Mines (MCOM), Institute of Quarrying Malaysia (IQM) and Institute of Minerals Engineering Malaysia (IME). His specialization is mining, quarrying, blasting, exploration and mineral processing.
He has served in various capacity as consultant as well as management in various mining organisations prior to his current appointment. He is also a Director with Asia Pacific Minerals Exploration Sdn Bhd and principal owner of Wan Anuar Ibrahim Mining Consultant. He joined GMT Group as Senior Director in 2019.

Muhammad Afiq Ariff Mohd Hellmy
Muhammad Afiq Hellmy obtained his Bachelor Degree in Applied Geology from the University of Malaya in 2016 and a Master of Philosophy in Applied Geology from the same university in 2018. He is registered as Graduate Geologist with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG).
He is a member of Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM), Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) and Society for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Malaysia (SEGRM) which is affiliated to International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environments (IAEG) and International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).
His research is focusing on the application of remote sensing, terrestrial laser scanning technique rock slope stability assessment and geohazard risk management. Throughout his research, he has developed knowledge in the application of remote sensing LiDAR for slope stability, geological mapping, and karst geomorphology.
He has also worked on various projects such as slope monitoring at Bukit Lanjan PLUS highway and stability assessment at Rahman Hydraulic Tin mining site. He is highly skilled in processing and interpreting LiDAR point cloud data using geological software such as RiscanPro, ArcGIS, Coltop3D, Virtual Reality Geological Studio (VRGS), Dips, and AutoCAD.

Mustapha Atta, PhD., P.Geol.
Dr Mustapha Atta obtained his PhD from National University of Malaysia specializing in hydrogeology and groundwater contamination in 2016. He is a registered Foreign Geologist with Board of Geologist Malaysia (BOG). He is a member of Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM), international member of National Groundwater Association (NGWA) and International Association of Hydrogeology (IAH).
He has completed several groundwater as well contaminants migration modelling of projects from Malaysia and Nigeria. He spent short stint with Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, Nigeria under National Youth Service Corps and Geological Survey of Nigeria, Kaduna Branch. His research interests are on hydrogeochemical, groundwater contamination/ remediation, landfill technology and management and modelling of contaminated aquifer.
Throughout his research, he has developed knowledge on experimental and chemical analytical procedures for leachate surface and groundwater (waste water) and soil through the available range of equipment, used a groundwater model to describe the conditions affecting contaminants especially the migration of ammonium in a contaminated aquifer and developed knowledge and skills in modelling groundwater aquifers.
He has published more than 20 technical papers locally and internationally. He is highly competent in groundwater modelling with Visual Modflow Flex modelling software, Surfer and Strater software’s applications as well as geochemical modelling using visual MINTQ software and Digital Elevation Modelling using various software. Currently, he is heavily involved with groundwater basin modelling for several basins in Malaysia. He joined GMT Group as Senior Hydrogeologist in 2017.

Ahmad Daniel Razali
Ahmad Daniel Razali graduated with Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Technology Petronas in 2017. He is registered as Graduate Geologist with Board of Geologists Malaysia (BOG). He is a member of Geological Society Malaysia (GSM), Institute of Geology Malaysia and Society for Exploration Geophysicists (SEG).
He has experienced as Procurement Assistant in Talisman Energy Limited during his semester break and completed his internship at Repsol Limited Energy as a trainee geophysicist. Prior to his current appointment, he was a freelance geologist and geophysicist with several projects including resistivity survey, mackintosh probe and geological terrain mapping.
Throughout his involvement with several projects, he has acquired experiences in various field of works such as geological terrain mapping, discontinuity survey, resistivity survey, hydrogeology study, topography survey, photogrammetry survey using drone and establishing ground control point. He is eager to gain experience and knowledge especially in geology, geophysics and geospatial to develop successful future career. He joined GMT Group as Geologist in 2018.

Nor Najiha Nasrudin
Nor Najiha Nasrudin obtained her Bachelor Degree with Honors in Geology from the National University of Malaysia in 2016 and a Master Degree in Environmental and Engineering Geophysics from the same university in 2017. She is registered as Graduate Geologist with Board of Geologist Malaysia (BOG).
She is a member of Geological Society Malaysia (GSM), Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM) and USA-based Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS). She has completed several freelance projects especially in resistivity surveys including subsurface profile for soil movement to identify reservoir tank leakage at Lukut, Negeri Sembilan, subsurface profile for opening limestone quarry at Gua Musang, Kelantan, groundwater exploration at Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, and hot spring exploration at Jasin, Melaka.
She is highly competent in handling, processing, interpreting data and report writing in geophysical survey. She is also capable of operating RES2DINV, Seisopt, Oasis Montaj, Macromedia FreeHand 9.0, Arcgis, and GW_Chart. She joind GMT Group as Geophysicist in 2017.

Azmi Ahmad Fauzi
Azmi Ahmad Fauzi graduated with Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL). He has more than 5 years of experiences in construction industry including supervision of several government and private projects.
He attended several Health, safety Environment (HSE) related training as well as skills training. He is a graduate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) 2009.

Norsyafiqah Saiful Arif
Norsyafiqah Saiful Arif graduated with Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Malaysia, Pahang (UMP) with CGPA of 3.62. She received Dean’s List Award for several semesters and Best Exco Award of Student Representative.
A self-motivated person that keen to work in an organization’s which help to expand her knowledge and skills, also tend to contribute more for the organization’s growth.

Astriana Emaonang Sipranus
Astriana Emaonang Sipranus graduated with Bachelor Degree in Applied Science (Geoscience) with Honours from University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) with CGPA of 3.32. She is a dedicated geologist with good knowledge of geology principles, theories, specifications, and standards. Substantial knowledge and experience with fieldwork and lab geology.
She is very good in GIS application through her experiences with previous employer. She spent several months at Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung, Indonesia for her Final Year Project.

Angela Vidda Chuwat
She obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in Geoscience with Honors from University Malaysia Kelantan and Master of Science in Applied Geophysics from University Sains Malaysia.
She is a proactive geologist with emphasise on engineering geology and applied geophysics where she involved in numerous projects in Sarawak within her early career development. She is now working as engineering geologist in GEOSCIENCE & MINERALS CONSULTANT AND TRAINING PLT.
